WASHINGTON — The United States Senate decided again Thursday that it simply does not want to let states tell people whether or not they are eating genetically modified food. The Senate voted overwhelmingly — 71 to 27 — against an amendment to the sweeping farm bill, squashing a measure that would not have required labeling of genetically modified organisms, but merely would have let states decide if they wanted to require such labeling. Before you ask me “why do you support government intervention? I thought you were an anarchist.” You need to recognize that Monsanto and the entire oligopoly on the seed and food industry IS essentially a part of the government.
The government promotes Monsanto in foreign countries on our tax dollar, gives them millions in subsidies, rules in court in their favor and against basic property rights, takes their money as payment to not label GMOs, has passed a specific “Monsanto Protection Act” that strips individuals of their rights against corporations, and has a completely incestuous relationship of sharing employees.
The government has played a major role in the deterioration of our foods, the inclusion of unnatural sugar substitutes and other unhealthy additions, and the creation of a total monopoly on our food industry where the corporations control our food supply, not the consumers. What also needs to be mentioned is that as GMOs continue to be used on farm fields in the US, contamination of non-GMO products becomes increasingly likely and inevitable. And what do you want to bet these politicians all feed their families non-GMO organic foods?
Yeah they do.
